First Chip on a V2-10: A 30-Minute Onboarding for New Owners
From unpacking the crate to the first finished part — the no-skip checklist that takes a brand-new V2-10 to a cleanly machined block in half an hour.
You opened the crate, the machine is on the bench, the manuals are next to the Pocket NC 101 course window. What now? Here is the half-hour path to your first finished part.
Minute 0–5: Power and connectivity
230 V Schuko in, Ethernet to your router (or USB-C laptop tether), power switch on. Wait for the boot light. Connect to kc.local in your browser. If your network filters mDNS, use the IP printed on the side label.
Minute 5–10: Home and jog
Run the homing routine from the Kinetic Control sidebar. Watch the A and B rotaries seek their reference switches — this is the single most reassuring sequence the machine makes. Jog each axis a few millimetres to confirm direction.
Minute 10–18: Tool setup
Mount your ER11 collet (3 mm for the included DATRON end-mill). Use the touch plate to measure tool length. Save as Tool 1. Repeat for any second tool the programme needs.
Minute 18–22: Load the spiral sample programme
Drag the bundled spiral.nc into the Kinetic Control program loader. Pre-flight the envelope check — Kinetic Control draws the toolpath in 3D and flags any out-of-envelope move before you press Start.
Minute 22–30: Cut
Wax stock in the fixture, work offset set to G54, lid closed, mist coolant primed. Cycle Start. Air-cut first if you are nervous; full-feed if you have watched the simulator confirm the path. Roughly seven minutes later you have a part.
