Pathpilot → Kinetic Control: what to expect
Made the switch last month. Notes on what survived the transition, what didn't, and what surprised me.
Just migrated a V2-10 from Pathpilot to Kinetic Control. Notes for anyone else considering the move:
What survived
- All G-code programs ran as-is on the first try
- Tool offsets exported/imported cleanly via the Settings panel
- WCS/G54 values mapped without re-zeroing
What changed
- Probe-TLO routine is faster but the menu lives in a different place
- Jogging feel is snappier — I dialled my step size down by half
- The cycle-time estimator is genuinely accurate now
What surprised me
- WebUSB sometimes drops on macOS Sonoma sleep — fixed by disabling "App Nap" for the browser. Took 30 minutes to figure out.
Net positive. Comments / counterpoints welcome.
